The Germans have really taken off when it comes to renewable fuel sources, and have become one of the major players in the alternative energy game. Under the aegis of the nation’s electricity feed laws, the German people set a world record in 2006 by investing over $10 billion (US) in research, development, and implementation of wind turbines, biogas power plants, and solar collection cells. Germany’s “feed laws” permit the German homeowners to connect to an electrical grid through some source of renewable energy and then sell back to the power company any excess energy produced at retail prices.:

I would like to plant the seed for the biggest no CSG rally ever! We need mass mobilization and support around Australia, where media, politicians, general public will have to take note. It would be great if a convoy of supporters traveled on a particular route around Australia (particularly areas where CSG is proposed) and then finally ended on the BIG Day in front of parliament house in Canberra, with all the other supporters who have come from far afield. On the same day it would be ideal to have protesters in front of local government buildings all around Australia. Lets lock in a date?

Thanks for sending this Scott. Well done.

Just a thought:
I noted you used the word "boiling" re condamine river. It may be best to use the term "bubbling" in future (more accurate), to ensure they can't accuse us of misinformation.

Cheers,

my note lodged on the ALC website regarding their lodgement of CSG licence application:

Dear Sir/Madam
I was appalled to read that the Aborginal Land Council has applied for a CSG licence in the Tweed/Byron Shires.

Whilst I understand and appreciate the need for the ALC to actively participate in progressing and steering your community into the future, I cannot for the life of me understand how you reconcile this particular industry with my understanding of the basis of Aboriginal lore - that is, a deep love and nurturing of the very land itself.

Can you please explain to me how care-taking of the land can be reconciled with an industry that poisons and destroys the very land you purport to love and nourish?

It is an outrageous insult to the Tweed community that this application should be advertised only 3 weeks after 4000 people - lead by Indigenous Community Leaders - marched through the streets of Murwillumbah to protest this disgusting, destructive and unnecessary rape of our land. Elders and other Aboriginal community members from various Northern Rivers communities have publicly stated their opposition to CSG operations in general and in our region absolutely on more than one occasion.

Are you not listening? not even to your "own" people? Have you not visited this stunningly beautiful region and seen for yourselves what you are risking? The science of CSG extraction is woefully incomplete and whilst the grab for licences continues unabated there is no incentive for extraction companies to do the research properly - currently they are bombarding our tvs with pr advertisements which are basically lies and deception, whilst showing vision of a "dummy" site that is not operational to try and fool the public into thinking the CSG industry is not dangerous and destructive whilst all indications are that it is both.

I urge you to take a look at what is happening in SE Queensland, take a look at the poisoning and destruction in the Piliga State Forest and shelve this horrendous grab for cash in this stunning World Heritage Listed region - for the sake of the future for goodness sake stop thinking of the money!
regards

"yes, gas will NOT be economic against renewables, given that gas price will be set by the global energy market."

Do you understand the price of gas and coal are freely traded commodities, which means it's a supply and demand scenario. So if solar really is going to be more economic gas would be worth nothing and it wouldn't be feasible to extract.
