NVDA skill share training day 10th March

March 10, 2018

Tired of feeling powerless? Feel you should do something to defend the environment for the future? Northern River Guardians, Nimbin and the North Coast Environment Centres are putting on a training day for non violent direct action ( aka NVDA) at Murwillumbah on Saturday March 10th.
Activists who have had success at stopping coal seam gas, slowing the advance of damaging mine projects, and creating National Parks where native forests are protected, etc will share knowledge. The participants will learn skills which will help them be effective and at the same time keeping them safe from aggression and free of violent responses in themselves and others. We invite all those who want to learn or to share to attend.
Direct Action to protect native forests from logging is likely soon. The NSW government should take responsibility to protect our common wealth, but instead proposes a system of self-management for the logging industry. Logging at Limpinwood of a key link in the system of flora and fauna reserves which is a corridor for wildlife has stopped briefly, but is likely to resume in March. We want to be ready.
The extraction of fresh water from Tweed sources and dangerous transport by heavy vehicles may need direct action to be stopped. Fossil fuels company ( such as Adani and SANTOS) are still trying to get their way through corruption of our political processes.
Come and learn techniques that might be useful .
Attendance is free. Gather at the rotunda in the park opposite Sunnyside Shopping Centre at 10 AM. Please bring protection from the sun, something to sit on, and food if you wish. Local shops are close at hand. We will have a lunch break about 12:30 and finish about 3 PM.
See you there.
