On February13th and 14th, thousands of people will take action for Global Divestment Day.

Scott Sledge, President of Northern Rivers Guardians said, ”Despite a declining demand for coal and gas the fossil fuel industry is throwing more money at drilling and mine expansion, so we will turn up the volume of our divestment movement. And we won’t stop until we win,” he said.

“Whose money is it that allows such foolish and irresponsible investments?”, Mr. Sledge asks.
“As people realise that it is their money, deposited in super funds and banks which only care about the banks own short-term profits, we will get more people switching to ethical investments that look after the future and are less risky investments in the long run,” he said.

President of Tweed Climate Action Now, Greg Reid said, “We are informing people about simple choices they can make that contribute to a better future, to local jobs and to financial security.”
